I believe these are the 3 main points when students need the most guidance: one that coincides with a Junior or Senior consult, a summer Essay Workshop, and a meeting in early fall to review a student’s Apply List. This Essentials Package includes the Individual Essay Workshop ($700 value) PLUS an early fall meeting to review your student’s Apply List ($750 value).

ESSAY WORKSHOP ($700 value)

For students only. Includes…

• A pre-assignment with critical topic brainstorming activities

• A one 1-hour Essay Goals lecture - presentation and discussion

• A one 2-hour Writing Workshop - student starts to write

• A written feedback report on what the student wrote in the Writing Workshop

• If applying to any UC, feedback on UC Personal Insight short-answers

• Two 30-minute Writing Review Sessions (additional 30-minute sessions available at extra fees)

APPLY LIST REVIEW MEETING ($750 value)

• For the student and at least one parent. Includes…

• A one-hour meeting to review a student’s Apply List (max of 14 individual campuses)

• 2 written reports: An “App Tracker” + Apply List Feedback Report:

  • An App Tracker is a spreadsheet of all admission plans, deadlines, and general requirements for campuses on the student’s Apply List.

  • An Apply List Feedback Report includes:

1. A breakdown of the student’s Apply List in terms of admission chance categories: High Chance of Admission (>80%), 50-50 Chance of Admission, or Low Chance of Admission (<30%), or Pie in the Sky Admission Chance (exceedingly improbable).

2. Analysis of the Apply List: advice on any campus additions/subtractions - with the goal of having ample options to choose from come spring of senior year. Includes recommendations and suggestions of campuses to balance a student’s Apply List.

3. Recommendations on which admission plans to apply under for each campus - with two goals in mind: (1) maximizing potential merit aid offers and (2) having at least one acceptance in hand early.

4. Possible additional recommendations, depending on the student’s academic profile, situation, and Apply List.

Timing:

• Recommended timing for an individual Essay Workshop is over summer, but August and September can work as well.

• Required timing for an Apply List Review is after the first day of senior year, and is typically held mid August to late September.
